Astro Coffee is a Detroit gem that started as a coffee shop in the Corktown neighborhood 9 years ago. They were literally destined to become roasters, with their dream equipment falling into their lap as their plan to work on special coffee projects with farmers in Honduras and Mexico solidified. The husband and wife duo at the helm of Astro, and their adjoining bakery Ochre, credit their passion and focus on relationship coffee to their mentor Anita Le Roy, a pioneering force in the industry who initially began exploring the impact of growing and international coffee trade on farming communities.
